SUMMER HEALTH TIPS

3/17/2025

Summer has finally arrived. Warmer temps, longer days and more sunshine can help to improve health and wellness. Here are some tips to stay healthy through the Summer season.

-Enjoy the outdoors. Simply being outdoors provides many health benefits such as reduced muscle tension, lowering heart rate, lowering blood pressure, higher Vitamin D levels, improved concentration and improved mental health. Don’t forget your sunscreen, hat and protective clothing.
-Stay in motion. As the saying goes, “a body in motion stays in motion,” and a routine of regular exercise can improve fitness of both body and mind. Daily walks are one of the keys to wellness. They help to reduce the risk of heart disease, increase energy levels, improve bone strength, control weight and improve emotional wellness. Make sure you have a good, supportive pair of walking shoes to avoid foot strain or injuries.
-Stretch. Stretching offers many benefits such as improved flexibility and improved balance. With any new routine, start with a small goal and gradually build up. Incorporating stretching into your morning or bedtime routine helps keep you on track.
-Hydrate. Summer is a great time for outdoor activities and drinking plenty of water is an important part of a healthy routine. Avoid dehydrating fluids such as energy drinks and alcohol.
-Protect your eyes. A certain amount of daily sunlight is healthy and beneficial, but it is very important to protect your eyes outdoors from UV light with sunglasses. A dark gray or black tint offers good UV protection.
-Eat fresh food. Summer is a great time to fill up on fresh produce. Eating fresh fruits and vegetables can provide your body the vitamins and nutrients it needs to help improve your health. Find healthy grilling recipes for those Summer cookouts.

Happy Summer and good eye health to y'all.

What Our Clients Are Saying
"Perfect experience at Lake Shore Retina. They got me in on very short notice after my insurance caused problems with the other ophthalmologist I was supposed to see that same day. I had Dr. Ahuja (both he and Dr. Maguluri are at this practice, depending on the day), and he was excellent. Carried out the exam very professionally, explained some key points, answered questions readily, friendly and good humor.  Wonderful."
"Dr. Maguluri is awesome! She was very welcoming and informative about my medical issue. I wish all doctors were just like her. I definitely appreciate her help :)"
